Jean Lafontaine was the pseudonym of the conductor, arranger and pianist Mario Casali, who participated in works at MPB festivals, which took place in his hometown, Casa Branca, São Paulo.

Knowing a little more about this Brazilian maestro, Mario Casali (1930-2003), was one of the most sought after pianists in Brazil. Musician with classical and erudite training, he was inserted early in the jazz and popular bands of his father, Egisto Casali. He played practically hidden at night in São Paulo, as he was a minor. He was the right figure to accompany distinguished singers and singers who traveled through Brazil, in their presentations.
