This series of recordings was made through the month of June 2000 in various places in the country of Morocco. They represent different styles of Moroccan folk music, from the indigenous Bebers of the northern Rif mountains to the Gnawa Sufis of the south. Listen closely and you will hear th lyrical similarity between this music and our own American folk forms, from Appalachia to the Mississippi Delta.
