Most Hendrix commentators agree that the Berkeley concerts are among the finest of Jimi´s 1970 performances. Yet they weren´t regarded as such at the time. As a result, a few songs have been released piecemeal over the years, scattered across various posthumous releases. The film itself was a parody of what could have have been: clocking in at just fifty-five minutes, presenting only extracts from the afternoon rehearsals and the two shows, annd not a single song being shown in it´s entirety. Completing this package was a poorly mixed soundtrack. The film release from 1971, Jimi Plays Berkeley, still remains in its original version on catalogue.

It took 33 years for the complete second show live at Berkely to be officially issued. Finally, with this release, we are nnow able to present the first of those historic concerts. Enjoy!
