According to liner notes:
Track 1-1, "Sometime" (aka "Sometimes") was recorded at Randy's studio in 1970. This song was previously done by US singer Gene Thomas in 1961. Included on the "Still In Chains" album.
Track 1-2, "Left with a broken heart" was also included on the "Still In Chains" album and was originally sung by the Four Tops around 1964, recorded at Dynamic Sounds in early 1971 during the same session than "My number one" (track 1-3).
Tracks 1-4 to 1-8 are from the album "Holt" released in Jamaica on the Jaguar label in 1971. "Hey Jude" is a cover of The Beatles' 1968 hit. "A Man needs a woman" is a cover of James Carr's hit from 1968. "I've got to get away" (aka "Got to get away" and "A quiet place") was later covered by The Slits as "Man Next Door". "Let the wicked run away" (aka "Let the wicked fade away") appears in a slightly different version on the album "The Paragons Return" (Third World).
Tracks 1-9 to 1-10 were recorded at Channel One studios in 1975. "I've got to go back home" (aka "Got to go back home") was originally a hit for Bob Andy in 1967 (Coxsone label) and Holt's version appeared on the 1976 album "Superstar" (Weedbeat) as tracks 1-9 to 1-14. "Goodnight my love (pleasant dreams)" is a song originally done by the McGuire Sisters in 1956 (and later recorded by Ben E. King, Paul Anka and Ray Peterson). "Sugar (you are mine)" is a Marvin & Johnny tune from 1954.
Tracks 1-12 and 1-13 were recorded in 1976 at Randy's (rhythm tracks) and King Tubby's Studio (vocals). Track 1-13, "Bring it on home to me" was written by Sam Cooke (hit in 1962).
"You must believe me", originally a 1964 hit for Curtis Mayfield and the Impressions, was recorded at Channel One in 1976.
Tracks 1-15 to 1-18 were recorded at Channel One in 1976. "Winter of love" was a hit for Engelbert Humperdinck in 1969. "(Let's) Kiss and say goodbye" is cover of the Manhattans' 1976 hit.
Track 1-19, "Ungrateful Lady", was recorded at Channel One in 1977 (rhythm tracks) and at Randy's (vocals). The rhythm track was used previously on The Melodians' 1967 "You have caught me".
Track 1-20, "You'll never find another love like mine" is re-working of american singer Lou Rawls' hit of 1976 recorded in 1976 at Channel One.
