Bandcamp release notes: "In the spring of 1981 John Oswald recorded saxophone solos every day, wherever he was, documenting these improvisations with a portable K7 dictation machine (probably a Sony BM-12). After accumulating a bunch of these, he began listening to the tapes; and some of these he listened to again and again. Not infrequently he would fall asleep while listening. Eventually he began to notice that certain portions of these tapes he would fall asleep to seem to provoke interesting dreams. These are the passages he chose to include in this solo album.Available for one day only to hear or possess! His album Alto Sax was originally slated to be on vinyl for the Metalanguage label, but only 5 or 6 test-pressed copies were stamped before Oswald pulled the release, deciding that the cassette format of his Mystery Tapes was the more appropriate and more satisfactory sounding way to present this material. This rare K7 LP, originally released by Mystery Tapes International, has not been available for decades, but now, due to popular demand, Oswald has deemed that a one day release could satisfy many of the listeners who have been searching for years for a copy. That day is nigh: this Bandcamp Friday, October 6th, for 24 hours only; it will then disappear again."
