Included in 242-page hard cover book.Appendix I is a detail description of the recorded musical sound examples.
"Some of the examples were synthesized by Max Mathews and [John R. Pierce] at IRCAM in 1979. Many were created by Elizabeth Cohen at Stanford University, with the cooperation and advice of John Chowning and the assistance of Andrew Schloss and David Jaffe. Diana Deutsch allowed me to use recordings of some of her musical paradoxes, and Max Mathews allowed me to use his brasslike violin sounds. The rest of examples were synthesized by Jean-Claude Risset, using Max Mathew's Music V program, mostly in Marseille (at the Laboratoire d'Informatique et Acoustique, Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique) and a few at Bell Laboratories and IRCAM."
