Wild World by Jonathan King

Album Info

Release Date: 1987

Label: UK Records

In 1987, Jonathan King accused the Pet Shop Boys of plagiarizing the melody from Cat Stevens’ “Wild World” in their song It's A Sin. To prove his point, he released this cover, with music imitating “It’s a Sin” but with modified lyrics from “Wild World”. The sleeve also is a parody of PSB’s Actually album cover. The Pet Shop Boys successfully sued King for defamation and donated the results to charity.

The composition on track A2 was also the subject of a historic plagiarism lawsuit, when George Harrison was sued by the estate of Ronnie Mack for similarities between "He's So Fine" and Harrison's "My Sweet Lord".
