Album Info

Release Date: 2016

Label: Challenge Records

Alto saxophonist and composer Joris Posthumus collaborations with the Japanese jazz scene culminated in the release of the album Tokyo’s Bad Boys in September 2016. The album was enthusiastically received and led to an extensive tour in Japan and the Netherlands, including a notable appearance at the North Sea Jazz Festival 2017
Building on this momentum, Joris continued to explore and expand his musical horizon, touring Japan again in 2018 with a diverse group of musicians, including some original members from the Tokyo’s Bad Boys album. This tour allowed Joris to forge new connections, experiment with new material, and enrich the group’s sound by incorporating trumpet in some performances.
In 2020, the Joris Posthumus group recorded their second album, JINSEI, in Nagoya, Japan. This album, whose title means “human life” in Japanese, builds upon the foundation laid by Tokyo’s Bad Boys but introduces new layers of emotion, sound, and collaboration.
