After having produced a mini-LP (Heed, Sevendipia Records) earlier this year offering a soundtrack to “pay attention to people around you”, Dèmos is Juanita’s third release and the second of 2020. The 8-track LP aims to portray the depreciation of the powerfuls consideration of their own population. From Greek word Dèmos (meaning: people), the French Brussels-based artist Juanita – who uses to describe his productions as well as the music he performs as ‘music for conscious people’ – paints a reality far from optimism and calls for awareness. Made of vaporous pads, granularity, samples and voices, Dèmos depicts the patriarchal, racist, unequal and hypocritical system we’re stuck in.
