How wonderful it is to have a new album from this major artist – and this major person.
Judy Bailey has been very important to our musical lives in Australia practically since she landed here from New Zealand. Important and precious for the music she has composed, arranged and played in many different areas of music but particularly in jazz. But there is also a special affection for Judy among her fellow musicians and the Australian public for the way she dedicates herself. She also works with children and the disabled, enlightening their lives with her remarkable music in a special loving way.
For years Judy has been teaching at the Jazz Studies course at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. Many of the younger players now on the “scene” have Judy to thank for a valuable part of their music education. Even the outstanding James Morrison once studied with Judy Bailey.
I always appreciate the no-nonsense but supportive approach of Judy Bailey in her personal as well as musical contacts.
We all value Judy Bailey more than we can say. Here’s to a sample of her invaluable contribution to music and to us."
