ON THE BAND. The Juffureh Band is a band from The Gambia, West Africa, from a town called Sukuta. The band is named after a powerful historic village in The Gambia, where slaves were transported to America and Europe. This is the village where a brave slave called Kunta Kinteh was born. His name spread in most part of the world. We named the band after this village to sustain the historic momentum and name of the village.––Juffureh Band is a long time band from the early nineteen-eighties. A lot of musicians passed through this band. We recorded few albums, and two among them, one was done with musicians from England, and another one with a saxophone player from Germany.––Thank you, this is a only small part of the story about the Juffureh Band… (Further information and contact: juffurehband.wordpress.com / www.reggaemanding.de.)
