Album Info

Release Date: 1990

Label: Starsing Records

The CD is marketed in a fully transparent jewel case put into a card box with 16-page booklet. Liner notes in Chinese and English..
All track titles in booklet and on card box back side are given in Chinese characters. For publishing in China these had been translated from the here listed English track titles. Original Chinese compositions are tracks 2, 6, 8, 10, 11 and 14.
During my long experience in China I discovered that many Chinese sometime have difficulties to correctly reading words written in latin letters. That's why on this CD some names have been colported in wrong spelling.
Three examples:
- The title of the CD and band name is spelled "PBYLMOUNT ..." but in fact means "PARAMOUNT ...", which refers to a famous historic cinema building in Shanghai.
- The English translation of the Chinese liner notes mention "New Oren" as starting point of jazz music, but in fact means the United States city of "New Orleans".
- The name of the late Chinese band leader sometimes is spelled JIMMY RING, but in fact means his English artist name JIMMY KING.
The English translation of the chinese liner notes quote the year 1997 as beginning of dance hall bands. In fact the Chinese text correctly mentions 1917 as such historic date.
