Album Info

Release Date: 1996

Labels: MCA Special Markets & Products, Folk Era Records

In 1967, after ten glorious years, the "Original" Kingston Trio of Bob Shane, Nick Reynolds, and John Stewart (who had replaced Dave Guard) retired. Just before doing so however, they recorded this last album in their Columbus Towers studio. To the original LP we've added four songs from their SOMETHIN' ELSE album.

Eleven of the 16 songs on this album were penned by John Stewart, making this a fitting sendoff to start his illustrious solo career as one of America's premier singer-songwriters.

This is the third Folk Era release of material originally recorded by the Kingston Trio for Decca in the mid-sixties.

To the original album we've added four cuts from another Kingston Trio album, SOMETHIN' ELSE. Also, feeling that all the Decca material lacked the quality of the Kingston Trio albums recorded at Capitol, for all three of these albums we arranged to have the master tapes re-mastered and digitalized at Capitol Records by the same engineer who did such a masterful job of re-mixing and digitalizing Capitol's Kingston Trio re-issues. He also used Capitol's famous echo chambers and added that same slight amount of echo that Capitol added to their Kingston Trio albums. We think you'll agree that this was a good move. To the already fantastic sound of the Kingston Trio, there has now been added that little "sparkle" that makes these albums really shine.
