The music is set to an epic poem by Icelandic poet Gerður Kristný. It is a modern re-telling of an ancient myth of the abduction of giantess Gerður Gymisdóttir. Umbra ensemble performs. They are an all-female alternative music ensemble with eclectic tastes who all play period instruments. Lead vocalist, Lilja Dögg Gunnarsdóttir brings the story forth with her exquisite performance of the challenging role of giantess Gerður Gymisdóttir, supported by haunting vocal harmonies from the ensemble. Beautiful and intimate artwork by Tinna Kristjánsdóttir illuminates Gerður's story. Originally a stunning video work for live performance, the album now features stills from Tinna's work.
