Album Info

Release Date: 1989

Label: Auvidis

The tracks heard here were recorded in the North of Syria as well as in the Lebanon during a field trip carried out in 1972 by Christian Poché, ethnomusicologist and Jochen Wenzel, photographer and sound-technician.
The recordings were more specifically collected in the cities of Aleppo, Afrin, Beyrouth and in the village of Kafar-Safra, near the Turkish border.
The accompanying notes were written following numerous conversations with the musicians who have since toured Europe on many occasions.
