La Città di Notte presents its new album, "In Mezzo," due May 4, 2024, via Talk About Records in digital and cassette form. After "La Città di Notte," a 2020 debut album, this second long-distance effort sees the Sardinian band move closer and closer to rawer and more distorted, distinctly rock'n'roll sounds."In Mezzo" (trad. "In Between") is a collection of songs born on the road in the band's early years, written between gigs, inspired by shows and books, incredible stories, and absurd characters. The album is populated by saboteur heroes of World War 2 (Bartolomeo) and sailors in search of the whale (Sink), by directors of insane B-Movies (Il Re di San Sperate), and ghosts of early '70s punk (Blank Generation), redeemed sinful bluesmen (Vieni con Me) and creatures of the night (34000 Ore). Black stories (Miseria, Valzer) that often come from afar (Gallardo, Tango Velenoso).
Once again, La Città di Notte boisterously tells bar stories relying on a sound anchored in jump-blues atmospheres and Italian swing of yesteryear, this time branching out into more powerful and riotous stylistic directions with a punk attitude.
The record was recorded live in the "Spazio Antas" in San Sperate, a small theater used for setting up a completely live recording session, without overdubs and metronomes, to return the essence of the band's sound on stage, with its impetuosity, volume, distortion and even the smears that distinguish the sweat poured during a concert.
