Ang Liwayway by Larry Miranda

Album Info

Release Date: 1971

Label: Plaka Pilipino

Album Info: "This record album contains a part of the Philippines. Herein is a collection of KUNDIMAN pieces, the country's love songs truly its own -- without a bit of foreign affection.

The KUNDIMAN is the Filipino's way of melodiously expressing their love. Usually accompanied by the strings of the native guitar, the sentimental KUNDIMAN fills the evening air with the serenader's music of love that awakens his beloved.

Seranading with the KUNDIMAN songs is still practiced in the provinces. This musical heritage still lives on.

The name of the late LARRY MIRANDA has become synonymous with the KUNDIMAN. During his time, his soul reaching KUNDIMAN, sang over the radio and on stage, and the records he waxed, had earned him the tag "The Prince of KUNDIMAN."

A recording artist who can better express the feelings of the Philippines' love songs better than LARRY MIRANDA did is yet to be discovered.

LARRY MIRANDA's demise on October 6, 1962 was a great loss to the Philippine musical culture. But he passed away leaving behind his immortal love songs in this album which would perpetuate not only the KUNDIMAN but also his name." -TONY OCAMPO
