Artists

Album Info

Release Date: 1981

Label: Pumehana Records

This is the second album by the original I Kona, with Ledward Kaapana, Alika Odom, and Bernard Kalua. With this album, the group dropped its original name, Na Leo Kani O Punahele, and adopted I Kona as its name and as a reminder of its signature song. The title of the album is identical to the title of of the second album by a Hilo, Hawaii group called Da Blahlas on which Bernard Kalua was a member as a high school student before he moved to Honolulu. This is a rare album that has never been reissued on the CD format. "Aloha Ia No O Maui" is called "Slack Key #1" on the album with the actual song title in parentheses. "Freight Train" is called "Slack Key #2," again with the actual song name in parentheses.
