These recordings have been transferred to tape from radio broadcast taken off the air by collectors in the fifties. They therefore fall considerably bellow normal professional standards of fidelity. The characteristics of the recordings have been modified in order to achieve a sound which is as faithful as possible to that of Lester Young's playing at the time.

The sleeve notes on the back cover of this release are mixed up. Under the heading "Biography of Lester Young" is the beginning of the description of the tracks. This description continues on the left side with track 4 (side 1) after the actual biography.
