Molybdos' is a held-tone composition that explores two low-frequency squarewave oscillators (generated by the Vector LFO mode in Ornament & Crime's Hemispheres alternative firmware, each with a slightly different pulsewidth) beating against each other at 57.02 Hz and 58.01 Hz respectively. Both oscillators were then summed and shaped through a Behringer 1005 Modamp ring modulator and 1006 Filtamp low-pass filter, before being multed with signal 1 sent directly into a Noise Engineering Xerest Pola stereo mixer, and signal 2 being processed through an SSDP Jade series phaser, with the all-pass filter output sent into Xerest Pola alongside signal 1. The phaser employed a Behringer 1004 oscillator in low-range mode for subtle frequency modulation, and the resultant recording was further post-processed in three different ways - via a three-part panned delay in Goldwave, a FFT/granular resampler in Goldwave and a third pass combining both,
Desolate, commanding sound that forms a wall around the listener, with hypnotic modulation and a timbral profile that recalls power stations or large electrical generators, 'Molybdos' exists alongside sessions undertaken for the 'OHMM' series and other heavier works such as 'Pillar of Persephone. Inspired in large part by the ring modulation studies conducted by David Burraston at Noyzelab, and offered here with thanks to Burraston for his generous sharing of knowledge,
