Album Info

Release Date: 2013-06-17

Label: Get Some Records

The eighth release on Get Some Records, sees Lancaster teen Llesca make his debut with 'Sharks', set for release July, accompanied by four remixes, and a bonus vocal from Sheffield MC, KDot.

The track centres around a repeatedly chopped vocal stab, bouncing off-pitched claps in a frenzied intro. With the drop comes a distinctive sci-fi riff, heavily synthesised and given space in the mix for maximum impact. The elements combine and evolve throughout, shuffling above swollen bass notes in an up-to-date fusion of 140BPM grime, garage and ghetto.

London-via-Sheffield producer, Checan's '2 Sugars Remix’ takes the original into Bassline territory. It's raw and upfront, filling in the gaps with a lively mid-range.

Liminal Sounds boss Elsewhere goes the other way and strips it to typically sparse arrangement with trap-style cymbals and rolling 808s nodding to the recent output of ClekClekBoom amongst others.

Promising newcomer Neana veers furthest from the original, delivering a mutant techno cut that drops out of nowhere with rowdy, stop-in-your-tracks drums. Fans of Randomer and the like take note.

Pedro 123, is quickly becoming one of the most sought-after remixers in grime, so far lending his hand to the work of Starkey, Youngstar, Stuff, Slick Don, Lakosa & iO and Don't Panic. His interpretation adds energetic drum rhythms and urgent, steely synths in his increasingly inimitable fashion.
