"Religious and Folk Music have, from Biblical times, formed an important part of Jewish culture. The LONDON JEWISH MALE CHOIR was founded in 1926 with the aim of perpetuating this musical heritage. Since then, through the media of radio, television, recordings and concerts in Britain and abroad, it has achieved fame not only for it's interpretation of Jewish music but for it's wider international repertoire. The Choir has performed in most of the major concert halls of Great Britain, participated in music festivals in Israel, Wales and Ireland and given concerts in many other countries, including The United States of America and Germany. Under it's present Musical Director and Conductor, Emmanuel Fisher, the Choir has achieved a unique vocal character and a reputation as the Premier Jewish Male Choir in the world, eliciting from the National Press such comments as "Better than the Don Cossacks", "An Orchestra of Voices" and "A Choir with perfect intonation, rich in colour and expression".
