In Fantasy began slowly as a collection of thematically separate songs but when a direction began to emerge Andrew realised they were all telling a similar story. The concept centers around humanity’s descent and self-destruction as an inevitable byproduct of its nature. This is told at a personal level by exploring anger, memory, responsibility, and belief then at a global scale with resource consumption, waste and environmental decay.

More than anything, exploring these ideas through Look To Windward’s music was a way of processing and externalizing the anxiety induced by the overwhelming complexity of our collective situation. The album title might describe this state of being; the veil/fiction/fantasy we generate to filter and cope with what we believe we can’t control.

The songs ‘Early Morning Forecast’ and ‘Real Flames’ were originally written over 10 years ago for Andrew’s previous band Microfiction. Elements of these tracks were recorded over the intervening years but never completed. The musical direction taken with In Fantasy made it the perfect home for these songs so the old recordings were dug up, with the help of Jonathan Sawyer (ex-Microfiction), then rearranged and what was missing recorded.
In Fantasy also features a re-recording of the song ‘Glint’ from the Kepler EP. The track had already started exploring the lyrical ideas of In Fantasy so this album was an opportunity to improve the production quality as well.
