The SOCA Production label was set up in 1979 by Shorty and two of his older children, O.C. & Abbi Blackman to market this "We Have Love" family Gospel Soca album. The word SOCA in addition to being an abbreviation for the "Soul Of CAlypso" which Shorty introduced and established between 1972 and 1976 also contains the first letters of the artists Shorty, OC and Abbi Blackman who formed the family SOCA Production label in 1979.
