Low's Museum is the solo recording project of songwriter James Low, who at home over the last five years has released eight wholly different albums, pulling from sources as disparate as sci-fi weirdo synth pop, depressing folk dirges, and hysterical laptop garage rock. Inspired by 70's piano rock and a summer spent listening to nothing but ABBA's Greatest Hits, Low's Museum's fifth album Joe explores themes of internalized homophobia, sexual inadequacy, and masculine guilt through a song-suite of hyperactive and playful pop music. Jumping gleefully from West Coast country to synth wave, from Leonard Cohen to Ariel Pink, the album never sits still, yet is constantly held together by James Low's strong sense of musical identity, idiosyncratic production, composition, and performance. Limited edition of 102 copies.
