2 Ozs. Of Plastic With A Hole In The Middle by Man

Artists

Album Info

Release Date: 1969-10

Label: Dawn

Outside laminated Unipak-style gatefold cover [disc access from the inside of the opened gatefold].
Dark orange labels. Later pressings have ''lilac'' (1972) or ''sunrise'' labels (1973 through to 1975).

This 1st pressing was made from 1969 through to 1971 when the color of the labels were changed to lilac. However most copies actually date from 1971 when Man became more popular.

True 1969 1st pressings feature a nearly paper thin outside laminated 'floppy' gatefold cover, similar to other Pye releases from this period (such as The Kinks 'Arthur' from 1969 which features an identical cover structural design). Any copies with a slightly thicker non-floppy cover date from late 1970-71 when Garrod & Lofthouse improved their cover thickness (no doubt because the early ones wore so badly). Only true 1969 1st pressings feature this 'floppy' cover.

A few peculiarities on the labels distinguish this 1969 edition from the other one Man - 2 Ozs. Of Plastic With A Hole In The Middle:
• The gap between song list and 'Production' is smaller.
• The same applies to the space between 'Brian' and 'ENQUIRY'.

Common to both:
• The matrix number on side A has a space DNLS. 3003-A, as opposed to DNLS.3003-A on slightly later pressings.
• The publishing credit is 'ENQUIRY-CARLIN' as opposed to 'ENQUIRY/CARLIN' on slightly later pressings.

Track A1 is credited on the A side label as:
1. (a) Prelude
(b) The Storm

First cat.nr. on cover, second on labels.

℗ 1969

Runouts (DNLS 3003A-1 ✳T STEREO and DNLS 3003B-1 ✳T STEREO) are stamped. Remainder is etched.

The 1971 issue with 'ENQUIRY/CARLIN' can be found here Man - 2 Ozs. Of Plastic With A Hole In The Middle
