Artists

Album Info

Release Date: 1997

Label: American Gramaphone

Compilation CD included with a picture book, My Little Christmas Tree & Other Christmas Bedtime Stories. Includes previously-released material, as well as two then-exclusive versions of "Traditions of Christmas" and two then-new recordings: "My Little Christmas Tree" and "Above the Northern Lights." The tracks are connected by the sound of sleigh bells fading in at the end of each song, and out at the start of the next.

Track 1 is played on an instrument imitating a music box, and was later termed the "Music Box Version"; track 7 is sung by a choir. However, both are listed on the CD and in the accompanying picture book simply as "Traditions of Christmas." Similarly, "Bring a Torch, Jeannette, Isabella" is rendered with only one comma.

The music box version of "Traditions of Christmas" later appeared, in abbreviated form, on Christmas Song and subsequently on Christmas Hometown. A different vocal version of "Traditions of Christmas" later appeared on Christmas: A Night Like No Other and Christmas Celebration. This choral version remains otherwise unreleased, as does the full-length music box version.

"My Little Christmas Tree" later appeared on Christmas Sweet Memories, Mannheim Steamroller Christmas By Chip Davis (25th Anniversary Collection), and Christmas Hometown.

"Above the Northern Lights" later appeared on The Christmas Angel - A Family Story, with narration over it; a vocal version later appeared on Christmas Song and subsequently on several compilations. This instrumental version remains otherwise unreleased.

"We Three Kings," "Coventry Carol," and "Bring a Torch, Jeannette, Isabella" are taken from Christmas. "The Holly and the Ivy" is taken from A Fresh Aire Christmas, which also includes the original version of "Traditions of Christmas." "Christmas Lullaby" is taken from Christmas In The Aire.

Track times do not appear on the release.
