These are songs from the underground. Originally recorded between 1986 and 1988 in a basement recording studio beneath a well-known rock club, deep down in the catacombs of Gothenburg City. The songs ended up on various cassette tapes, endlessly celebrated as the tapes were lost and found and lost again under numerous carpets and other, more obscure, places; this was the glorious eighties after all. Yet the songs never got any further than onto those tapes. And maybe rightly so, maybe the full potential of the songs weren’t there…
Fast forward to the year 2020: the songs from the underground are re-recorded, given the rare opportunity of rebirth.
Now they are opening up like dark flowers in moonlight. It’s the strangest thing, the metamorphosis of songs… How they turn into something else, still remaining true to themselves, as they were, being born down in those catacombs.
