Fans of Joanna Newsom, Hope Sandaval and Vashti Bunyan, will warm to Marissa Nadler. Her music is dreamy and spectral; an amalgram of traditional folk, paisley underground, shoegaze, and dream pop. Her voice is what most people immediately respond to, with the writing and playing yielding a slow burn subtlety. Excelling at Fahey-esque finger-picking, Marissa also plays homage to some of the great early American blues players in her music.
The eerie quality of her atmospheric music gives her songs a timelessness and sadness that can only be described as other worldly. "Diamond Heart" is a beautiful introduction to one of the major figures in the current folk revival.'
