Recorded from a matinee broadcast of an abridged performance at the Metropolitan Opera House on 21 December 1935. The inset says this album is not for sale in the U.S.A. (see the 2000 catalogue under the Gebhardt Records label images). The conductor "Carl Besel" (Track 3.12) is obscure: he is not in John Holmes's encyclopaedic "Conductors on Record" (London: Victor Gollancz, 1982). He is the only conductor credited on the Lotte Lehmann Bonus tracks.
