"A note on the sound: 78s on Cayla's Soleil label are of varying quality. It is possible - likely, even - that a few of these were cut vertically rather than laterally and that my having transferred them as though they were laterally cut discs was a factor in the sometimes poor quality of the sound. Assuming that is the case, I hope that the performances come through and that this collection's nominal cost will go some way toward helping to share the music."
