Released to public radio stations on 5 LPs. Meant to be aired daily. The promos are generic for the series, but each one is unique. The first two promos on R1A are introductory to the series, and the remaining promos use material from an episode that airs that week. Each LP came in printed sleeve with credits and info on the back cover, with a generic paper inner. All of the sleeves were identical with the exception of a red, round sticker identifying which disc it was and which weeks were included on that disc.

Copies came with a printed "Broadcast Data Sheet" which included broadcast rights, frequency of plays, and the cost of airing it.

The labels, sleeves, and spine identify this title solely as Ruby, though (Adventures of a Galactic Gumshoe) appears on the back of the sleeve. After series 3 was released ZBS began referring to it with the full title and every Ruby series then had the naming format of Ruby#: Subtitle
