The recording was made in New York City. Performed opening night at the Metropolitan Opera, New York September 19, 1972.

The 3-LP set comes in a hinged box made of thick cardboard and includes a 4-color, 12” x 12”, 70-page perfect bound book featuring the full libretto; profiles of the conductor and performers; and many photos.

The set includes printed, poly-lined, audiophile-grade inner sleeves to hold the LPs.

The album is on the prestigious TAS list, a list of the greatest audiophile recordings compiled by the editors of The Absolute Sound magazine.
