Sonals Du Tramway De Besançon by Michel Redolfi

Artists

Album Info

Release Date: 2015

Label: Audionaute

Pieces composed as background for tramway cars in Besançon. From the Audionaute website:

"The composer Michel REDOLFI - known for his multimedia experiments - previously developed the concept of "sonal" for the Nice and Brest tramways.

'This format of sound, informative and artistic announcement, which evolves in a playful way over the hours, stands out from the classic "jingle" of transport networks. The jingle, broadcast powerfully on a site or in a train, identifies an entity in a repetitive and unchanging way, at the risk of unnecessarily saturating the user.

'The sonal, on the other hand, adapts as closely as possible to the particularities of a journey: it accompanies the journey with musical signals that are renewed over the hours, or even the seasons (in Nice) or the movement of the tides (in Brest).

'A collection of sonals is always available in daytime and nighttime versions. The evening variable introduces softer musical timbres, an adapted locution and a lowered level. The aim is to support the traveler with sensitive nuances throughout the duration of the service."

Two printed CDRs housed in a cardboard gatefold wallet. Catalog number appears only on the discs themselves. (Most copies are not signed like the one in the entry photo.)
