Originally issued as "Ascenseur pour l'échafaud" (Fontana 660.213, France 10" LP) in 1958 and "Jazz Track" (Columbia CL-1268, USA 12" LP) in 1959. As such, this is a compilation made up of two unrelated studio sessions.
Notes on the back: "Fran-Dance" appeared on some issues with the original title of the tune on which it is based: "Put Your Little Foot Right Out" (Larry Spier). Miles dedicated the number to his wife, dancer Francis Taylor Davis.
