In my work it’s important to show how sound is produced,to not only press “play” on the cassette player and let it play.
It’s important to really interact with the original sound, to transform
and manipulate it, find textures and arrange layers, to create new sound from all these sounds, these “dead”, recorded sounds, from music that’s not “live”. It’s a way of putting it back in a context of
creating, on stage, a new sound that’s “live”, alive and full of emotion.
The two tracks are recorded from the performance I had on 12th of February 2018 in Saint Petersburg, Russia. This performance
“Lost, but not lost forever” is a tribute to old media that doesn’t exist anymore (or dead media) but we still remember their existence. Also puts the question “What’s the life expectancy of a media?”. Of course, depends from type to type, but at the end, somehow, they all die. Or “Is there a media that never died?”. “What’s the new media that is going to conquer the world?”.
