Tracks 1-6 are the original mystery tape, cut into segmented tracks for this release. Track 7 is listed with the note "We have no idea where this track came from, not even the mystery sax player who arrives in the later part knows." Track 8 is an unlisted hidden track.

Bandcamp email notes: "We have another one-day-only special, a limitedly-available Mystery Tape surprise for this Bandcamp Friday. It's a tape from 1988 that we forgot existed. While trying to clear up the mystery of why some Mystery Tape sides were entitled Color Breathing, we found a K7 with CB on one side and a duet with one of our distant mLab collaborators (whose identity we have hidden somewhere nearby) on the flipside, called Diesel Restaurant. It sounds refreshingly different, so we are giving you this brief glimpse from the past, that you can grab forever. For one day, we are releasing this newly polished and segmented version as dX’88, which includes an additional track from possibly an upcoming X-tape release, for whatever you might wish to pay. And finally there’s a tiny bonus: our Director of Research famously dislikes looping, but is allowing an exception with a dX outtake entitled Garoo Loop. This particular package will disappear after Friday."
