"LEMMINGS is a satirical joke-rock mock-concert musical-comedy semi-revue theatrical presentation, or none of the above, based on the spirit and sometimes the letter of THE NATIONAL LAMPOON. It opened at New York's Village Gate on January 25, 1973... LEMMINGS was written by members of the cast, in particular Christopher Guest, Paul Jacobs and John Belushi, and by regular contributors to the magazine, in particular Sean Kelly, a poet but not a one-man band; it was produced and directed after a fashion by Tony Hendra, who is an editor of the magazine and is always trying to work his name in."
