At the same time, he also has a bitter heart. It's because I feel like I'm lacking somewhere to bet when they're alive.
In that respect, [BIG MISTAKE], released by No Brain after 8 years, is unprecedented. This is because No Brain is a representative punk rock band that has been actively engaged in creative activities for 25 years. At the same time, there is no rust in the sound contained in this EP. It is because the sharp sound of the indie nascent period and the mature beauty of a veteran who has been steadily active are properly mixed. In particular, it is a pleasure to listen to this EP to feel the studio technology that clearly draws out the combination of a fierce vocalist and guitarist, and a solid and running bassist and drummer.
Why has this work been dormant for 8 years? Let's go back to the past. It all started with a meeting between the band and Seymour Stein in Canada in March 2013. Seymour Stein is a person with an extraordinary touch and is a person who discovered Ramons, Talking Heads, Smith, and Cure. This legend felt the feeling when he saw a muddy hair band from CBGB in New York from No Brain. He, who was also the vice chairman of Warner Music, decided to sponsor a band from Hongdae Drug.
An unbelievably large quantity was put in for an indie. It was overwhelming right from the invitation to the recording studio. Blackbird Studio, a state-of-the-art recording studio frequented by famous musicians such as Beck and Neil Young, and East West Studio, which recorded the greatest album in history, [Pet Sounds], were invited. In particular, this space is also the sanctuary of punk, where David Bowie mixed . As a mixing engineer, Chris Lord Alge, who was in charge of Prince's Batman OST and Green Day's alum , won the bid. He is a veteran who has been nominated for five Grammy Awards. The person who spearheaded this was Julian Raymond, producer of the famous band Chip Trick. Truly, the ultra-luxury army that fits the modifier of alum was together.
No Brain decided to start activities in the US in 2013. But there were some problems. Warner Music producer Julian Raymond moved to Big Machine Records. It was also difficult to narrow the views between the US and Korean companies. It was an external problem rather than the will of the band. In the end, No Brain decided to put their minds down and focus on Korean activities for the time being.
Since things didn't work out as planned, maybe Seymour Stein's judgment was a 'mistake'. Still, No Brain continued its activities. As a result, the band has just celebrated its 25th anniversary. The conclusion I came to during the long journey was punk. Putting aside the various images that come to mind when thinking of No Brain, I decided to run with the straight-line method of the early days. Obviously, the sharp appearance of the drug has disappeared, but the mature beauty has been saved through numerous experiences. [BIG MISTAKE] is a work that shows the perfect combination of these two. It is a bridge between the past, the present and the future. I don't know if it sounds like an excuse for why I'm finally releasing an EP. However, at this time when it was released to the world, it would be a 'big mistake' not to listen to such excellent punk rock.
