Album Info

Release Date: 1971-12-01

Label: United Sound

It's almost exciting enough to look at this album. Just wait till you hear it! Fans have a perfectly sound reason for calling the 110 Marching Men of Ohio the most exciting band in the land. This band combines exuberant musicianship, fantastic arrangements, a swinging conductor and general all-around pizazz into a sound so live you probably won't even need your stereo to hear it.

This particular album, the epitome of the Ohio sound, is a combination of Studio and live concert recording. The November 19, 1971 Varisty show, during Father's Weekend on the campus, was an unmitigated success, as you can tell from the reaction on the record. Don't be surprised to find yourself in there applauding right along with them.

Technical Notes: Master tapes for this stereo album were recorded in four sessions during November and December of 1971, in Memorial Auditorium on the Ohio University Campus in Athens. The equipment used included Neumann microphones and Crown recorders. The recording was produced by Wilmat Productions with technical supervision by Edmund A. Williams, G. Robert Mathews and Elizabeth Walton.
