The Music
This album is a unique combination of instruments old and new. Bamboo flutes of many styles and tunings are found in every ancient culture. Their sweet and simple sound, combined with modern electronic synthesized sounds, produce music that is soothing and uplifting.
All of the wind instruments on the album were made by Richard Allen (me). I have made & and sold thousands of instruments since I cut up my first bamboo fishing pole back in 1972. The instruments are: Shakuhachi - an ancient Japanese flute, transverse flute - forerunner to the silver flute, Bamboo Sax - a standard sax reed affixed to a piece of bamboo, and bamboo whistles - recorder like instruments that can sing like birds.
