This volume is a tribute to the last steam passenger locomotives built for the V.R., namely the seventy "R" class Hudsons No's 700-769. These handsome machines had only a short life as main line passenger haulers but in their day they were admired by crews and timekeepers alike.
As is usual when diesel traction takes over, the "R's" ended their life as freight haulers. However on this volume I have tried to recreate an image of "Hudsons on the Varnish" by including only scenes recorded with passenger trains.
So now relax, go back in time and thrill once more to the sound of six foot drivers eating up the miles.
