Pig Iron is a Portland-based, old time string band inspired by the traditional music of central North Carolina and southwestern Virginia. We are five guys from all over the place, both geographically and musically, who have found a common love in the tunes and songs of North Carolina fiddler Tommy Jarrell. We learned several of the tunes from his recordings although the cross country journey has left its mark on some of them. The remaining tunes were picked up from other traditional musicians, or were written by Pig Iron. This disc was spontaneously recorded live-to-stereo, and is guaranteed 100% overdub-free (obviously).
