First Pressing limited to 1000 copies.Clay Records used the original masters for this first pressing of the album against the will of the band who had rejected the recordings after speaking to Clay Records. The dropped recordings should have been replaced by the then remixed tracks, but Clay Records released the first pressing in spite of the agreement with the band.
This first original mix pressing sounds a bit different in comparison to the second remixed pressing.
On this first mix pressing, the mix is drier and duller, the guitar has less echo-effects, and some songs are missing instrument tracks in the mix that can be heard in the second remixed pressing. The second remixed pressing has a clearer and brighter mix, and added instrument tracks. For example, in the second remixed pressing, the song weeping blood has a slightly louder bell sound intro, and includes an uptempo high-hat and choir synth sound that can be heard clearly throughout the song. Also, the Play Dead band symbol on the labels of the two sides of the record have a darker blue colour than the symbols of the second remixed pressing.
The second remixed pressing has a "Remixed" sticker on the sleeve.
Some fans accused the band of ripping people off by trying to make them buy another copy. Of course the band tried to quit Clay Records as far as possible after that faux pas.
Comes with fully printed black inner sleeve.
Recorded at Blackwing, March 1984.
