"Waves & Echoes" was a very difficult album to record and release. It was beset with technical difficulties during recording, not least near the end of the sessions, when the 8-track crashed and we lost everything we'd recorded to date (I bought an external drive thereafter, learning the hard way about the need to create back-ups). The album was also written and recorded under stressful personal circumstances, during the break-up of my relationship with Rachel.
To finish it all nicely, the manufacture of the CDs was also fraught, with the music never being mastered as arranged, and three sets of sleeves having to be printed before they were usable. Even then, they were printed incorrectly, but as I was starting to lose the will to live, I decided to release the CD as it was. I'm still proud of this album, though, and I was delighted that some others agreed. The website Evil Sponge even awarded "Waves & Echoes" the title of Album of the Year, describing it as "a remarkable achievement."

Recorded at home in Saltaire, UK, to Tascam 788 digital 8-track portastudio. Normalised, edited and re-EQed, December 2009.
