Tracks 1 to 7 are a collection of songs recorded in the period 1996-1998 just for fun and represent the recordings made prior to the first Portal single "Hydro-electric", an alternative version of which appears here. These songs also appeared on a limited edition cassette given for free and sold via the Portal website.
Tracks 8 and 9 originally appeared on a compilation cassette with the fanzine "Aluminaut". Track 10 was originally donated to Ivystone Records for a Simon & Garfunkel tribute album that was never released.
