Pythonissam is a US two-piece Psychedelic Funeral Doom band featuring members Foster Gilbert (Bukavac, Coffin Hag, Whore, Lilith and the Serpent, Hatchet Sodomy) from North Dakota, and Derek Jacobsen (Decoherence, The Anointing Maelstrom, Eldarion, Cryptic Evil, Ordo Malum, Odious Emesis, Coffin Black, and more) from Wisconsin.Pythonissam's second full-length album "Transcending to R'lyeh" is a heavy, crushing, reverb and massive tone laden conceptual piece surrounding the works of H.P. Lovecraft, proclaiming the ominous awakening and return of the Great Old Ones through the eyes of an unrelenting and devoted Acolyte. In between long riding riffs and gut-punching tones are the mind bending breaks of Psychedelic transcendence and ritualistic compositions to further draw the listener in, creating an atmosphere of both awe and sheer terror.
