Album Info

Release Date: 1985

Label: Residentie-Orkest

Released in a series of 26 volumes, the proceeds of which were used for the building costs of the "Nieuwe Muziekzaal" in The Hague, The Netherlands. This release is sponsored by Hulst B.V. Kommunikatiesystemen, The Hague.

Comes in a gatefold sleeve with liner notes in Dutch and English (translations) inside, including credits and the names of all members of the (The Hague Philharmonic) Orchestra.

From back cover: "All the works on these two records have been taken from the record albums '400 Years of Dutch Music', Parts 1 and 2, published by The Hague Philharmonic respectively in 1979 on the occasion of its 75th anniversary, and in 1982. Album 1 contained 6 records with works by 22 different Dutch composers, while album 2 also contained 6 records with works by 21, for the most part different composers from album 1. The first album was awarded an 'Edison' in 1980, this being the highest Dutch distinction for a record and, on sales exceeding 15.000 (a figure which has in the meantime risen to around 25.000), the 'Gouden Platendoos' (Golden Record Box). After the appearance of album 2, the orchestra was awarded the commemorative medal of the Society for the History of Dutch Music."
