The 'Großes Symphonieorchester' here was formed of musicians from the Czech Philharmonic and the National Theatre, Prague, who were in Nuremburg for the recording when the Soviet invasion of Czechoslovakia took place. As the Germano-Czech border was opening and closing at short notice, players were absenting themselves to go home to family and were replaced at short notice by assorted volunteer players from Nuremburg orchestras.
