Album Info

Release Date: 1964

Label: Bowmar Records

This album was planned to meet the need for children's songs in the study of Mexico. It also provides simple Spanish vocabulary for use in the classroom. Included is a variety of songs: a lullaby, songs of home, Las Posadas and piñata songs, mañanitas or serenades, Indian songs and dance songs and games.

The songs popular in Mexico have been passed along orally and often vary from village to village. Only ritual songs and dances of pre-conquest Mexico remain today, so much of the music now sung shows strong Spanish influence.
